Angels are Real

I finally have some time to park myself & tell you all the exciting things that have & are happening in my life.

Two weeks ago I was invited to a Recumbent rally in Oceanside, Ca.  My friends, Don & Maryann gave me a ride to the rally, but were not returning, directly so they left me to find my way home.  So I went to the rally, & from there went south to the S. Carlsbad State Beach.  A nice little 5 mile ride, to get a campsite for the night.  But when I got there the campground was full, & they had no Hike – n – Bike area.  They had closed the H/B area, & told me that I would have too ride another 7 miles south to San Elijo.  That would mean an extra 24 miles, on top of the 25 I had done at the rally, & before the 60+ that I would do the next day to get home.  Before I left for San Elijo I took a potty break & on the way out of the park I met another cyclecamper.  He was a teacher from Oregon & he was looping Oregon/Mexico.  Bryon had come down Hwy 395, & was going north to meet his wife in SFO at some future time.  We shared his cost for the campsite, & shared fish stories all afternoon.

The next morning I awoke early, so as to beat the heat, but as I don’t function well in the early AM, & with taking time for a good breakfast, it became too hot, too soon!  So I decided to stop & cool off for a while.  A cold drink would help me cool down, & a cool place to rest would be just what the Dr. ordered.  It wasn’t to far up the road that I found a McDonalds.  Yes, when it’s hot, even a Mc D will do.

While there, a fellow came over & asked how fast my trike would go.  My answer was “ not very fast, today”.  After a short conversation he volunteered to give me a ride to Hemet.  But it would be after he got off work.  This was 8 hours away.  The weather was fine on the coast, but as I rode inland, well, the temp was 105 degrees that day.  Not good weather for cycling.  The roads ahead were very hilly & also narrow.  To wait for a ride was tempting.  After an hour or so, I started to try to call a friend, but as I dialed my phone I saw my new found friend outside, near my trike.  So I cancelled my phone call & went outside.  Brian had called his aunt, & had set up a safe area at his work to store my trike for the day, & had talked his aunt into driving me to Hemet.  Later that night, about 11:pm, Brian & his aunt delivered my trike to my home in Hemet.

If Angels exist, I met two of them that day!
